The only known Abraham Lincoln stamp, assumed to be destroyed after it was stolen in Indianapolis in 1967, suddenly shows up in a Chicago stamp shop when a couple casually walked in with it!
The "Ice House" envelope bearing the 90-cent Abraham Lincoln stamp from 1869 , so called because it was mailed to James H.Bancroft in care of a Calcutta ice house in 1873, is said to be worth more than a million dollars.
The stamp is the ultimate trophy among wealthy collectors to claim the 'throne' in the philatelic world. "No collection of the 1869 series can be complete without that cover. The person who owns it will be king," said Rob Haeseler, director of administration at the American Philatelic Society.
